"Reaching within through Self-Portraits-Oil Painting Class " (1 Hour)
Eran DeSilva
$108 6 session pass, $22 drop-in
Through reflection and creative expression you can find more clarity. This class will help you in this process, while teaching you about oil painting techniques. The class will begin with a short meditation to assess where you are on your journey. The scale of your self-portrait is up to you, the instructor will merely guide you on the reflective process of creative self-expression, as well as aiding you in developing oil painting skills. Come paint with us and you'll find that you are an artistic genius waiting to be discovered. You will have a masterpiece to display within weeks! Please bring: a canvas and 2 jars (one small and one large)
Eran DeSilva has loved art since she could hold crayons. It has served as a means of release, self-discovery, expression, communication, and leisure. She enjoys teaching and learning, which often go hand in hand. During the day she teaches high school Social Studies. In her classes, she often shares with her students how art serves as a mirror of societal and political issues. She believes that art is a powerful medium that conveys messages for individuals and communities. This is just one reason that she thinks that creating art is so important.
Eran particularly enjoys painting and drawing. She graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Art Studio with an emphasis in painting. She has been teaching oil painting for the past three years at a community center to both adults and youth.

Please read the Introduction and Chapter One before the first meeting and come prepared to interactively discuss and practice one or more of the exercises in Chapter One. "Making Greeting Cards"

Students will learn how to make personalized greeting cards. Various
techniques of rubber-stamping will be presented, along with several styles of rubber stamps, which will give the students the basic background to design their own greeting cards for fun or profit. A $5 materials fee will cover three cards, envelopes and embellishments. Let your imagination fly!

Would you like a compass to guide you on your path to creativity? Develop your own Creative Mission Statement, Absolute Yes! List and Goal Planning in this exp lor ative and interactive workshop. With your Mission Statement as your compass you can then navigate through your goals and develop your Absolute Yes! List and Creative Goals. We'll be creating these on 3X5 cards so you can keep them posted around your home and in your wallet for daily reminders to check your compass and ensure that you stay on your path. We'll be decorating our cards so that they are more meaningful and personal.As we'll be personalizing these cards by decorating them, please bring any art supplies (ribbon, buttons, stickers etc.) that you feel are symbolic of your unique Journey.
